Where The Hypno-Band Weight Loss Program began

The Hypno-Band, virtual gastric band hypnosis program was first created and developed by John Maclean. While assisting his many clients for weight loss therapy he realised that for clients who had a high Body Mass Index (BMI) regular weight loss hypnotherapy was not enough. Lorna Jackson also noticed this similarity with her own clients and so became the first hypnotherapist to offer this amazing program in Brisbane in 2011.

How the Program Works

The HYPNO-BAND program comprises 4 sessions of gastric band hypnotherapy with Lorna, plus recordings to play at home which are used for reinforcement. At the first session Lorna does a full dietry and medical history plus an initial assessment of your lifestyle. Also during this first session on your journey to losing weight Lorna will be taking you into perhaps your first experience of hypnosis and the fantastic feelings of relaxation and calmness which results from being hypnotized.

In the second session you will encounter the HYPNO-BAND and we will begin the process of having the virtual gastric band fitted. In subsequent sessions the HYPNO-BAND virtual gastric band process will be reinforced and you will learn different and motivating ways of eating less and looking forward to exercising. During these sessions any adjustments to the virtual gastric band can be made. Following the sessions you can take time out during your day to use your recordings to back-up and reinforce the work you have done.

The key component to the Hypno-Band program is YOU and will only work providing YOU are committed and motivated to change. I first heard about Lorna approx 12months ago. Not one to hurry in my decision making, sceptical and in truth quite frightened to try hypnosis I contacted Lorna. Lorna arrange for me to see her the following Saturday to chat about what I hoped Hypnosis would do for me. I had a very unhealthy relationship with food. After a rough couple of years I’d learnt to use food to comfort myself and it had really begun to show. I felt as though I couldn’t go a day without raiding the vending machine at work and frequently ate take-away rather than cook my own meals. I felt depressed about my weight and had lost my self-confidence. Even though I was only slightly overweight, I couldn’t seem to diet…it was like my mind was terrified of letting go of those emotional crutches. It finally got to a stage where I knew I had to change and I recognised that for whatever reason, I just couldn’t do it by myself. I was a little sceptical (I’d tried at-home hypnosis with no success) so I decided that if Lorna could get me to eat bananas then I would know the hypnosis had worked. I had some issues with my weight that I wanted to address. After the first session I achieved the most wonderful results. I used to overeat at basically all meals. I would also eat when I was not hungry. I was not grossly overweight but felt I needed to lose some weight for my health. For many, many years I have been obese, not really through any mental influence of depression, anxiety etc., really through over indulgence. I am so surprised how motivated I have been and how the cravings for sweet, fatty foods have ceased.
